The year is 1955.
What else happened? Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Stephanie Morse were born. Yes, a lot was happening in 1955. Stephanie was in very good company and – as much as animals controlled both the big and little screen - how could she not become an animal lover?
Stephanie’s dad had grown up on a farm and owned a riding stable. (That’s actually how her parents met.) She inherited her father’s love of animals, horses especially. They brought her first pony – a tiny Shetland she named “Flashy Royal Golden Cadet” – home in the back seat of the family sedan.
That Flashy was what we’ll generously call ‘a pistol’. Anyone standing in front of his stall ran the risk of getting bit or having the little guy stand up on his hind legs and drape his front legs over your shoulders. Flashy (the biter)… Prince (the little red and white pony who ran thru a grapevine tearing one of Stephanie’s fingernails off)… Blaze (the beautiful red horse who couldn’t be trusted not to kick you in your head)… and Beauty (the little black and white pony who took Steph to her first horse show and won her that first blue ribbon) all contributed to Stephanie’s love for animals, and determination to make sure they had a good life.
That love for animals led Stephanie to get her bachelor’s degree in Equestrian Science and embark on her first life adventure - training show horses. Those early years would leave an indelible mark on Stephanie in terms of the field in which she would prefer to spend her life, if she could.
But life sometimes throws us a curve ball. Life circumstances forced Stephanie to a more feet-on-the-ground, money-in-the-bank job, and computer programming fit the bill. This change turned out to be very positive. For one, it taught her how to work well with people. And, especially when she was promoted to systems analyst, researching workplaces and habits to develop computer systems developed her analytical skills.
Today those analytical skills serve her well when it comes time to review a client’s current marketing techniques. They enable her to plug into what the client offers and allow her to read the potential market…make the client’s product a ‘need to have’ item. And by combining those tools with her natural communications skills – plus her love of companion animals – she has truly created her ideal world.
Making a positive difference in our companion animals’ lives…isn’t that what we all want?
